In a foul filled contest, Albion avenged an earlier season 21 point (61-40) loss by scoring a 50-47 Senior Night victory over Akron this evening in the Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball season finale for both teams.

In all the two teams shot a total of 66 free throws as Albion went 20 of 45 from the line and Akron 10 of 21.

Madison Lebaron scored 13 and Madison Hughson and Skoi Sanders Smith 10 each to lead the way for Albion. Anan Zaczek and Julia Knight both added 5, Kenzi Snook, Daci Doward and Paige Newton 2 and Sam Basinait 1 for the Purple Eagles.

Sloan Jonathan tallied a game high 15 and Sophia Jones netted 12 to pace Akron as Katie Leeds added 6, Melanie Holtz and Emma Gerstung 5, Isabelle Jones 3 and Rachel Dugan 1.

Akron jumped out to a 13-8 first period lead as Jonathan scored 9.

Albion though answered back with a 16-6 second quarter scoring edge to rally into a 24-19 half-time lead. Lebaron had two threes and a layup and Sanders Smith 5 free throws to lead that Purple Eagles rally.

The Purple Eagles maintained a six point, 43-37, lead at the three-quarter mark. Hughson scored 10 and Lebaron 5, both including a three, to lead the Purple Eagles in the third period.

Akron could get no closer than three in the final period as baskets by Zaczek and Sanders Smith along with three free throws by Knight helped lock up the win for the Purple Eagles.

Albion finishes the N-O season at 6-6 and Akron at 8-4.
