Albion girls win double overtime thriller

In a double overtime thriller, Albion outlasted host Barker 48-46 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball game.

Madison Lebaron scored the game winning basket for Albion in the second overtime on a layup off a steal.

Lebaron also scored a basket at the end of regulation time to knot the contest at 38-38 and force overtime.

Kenzi Snook finished with 14, Julia Knight 12 and Skoi Sanders Smith 9 for the Purple Eagles. Knight also had 12 rebounds, Sanders Smith 10 and Snook 6.

Mia Herman scored 13, Anna Bowerman 12 and Rachel Sutter 9 for Barker.

Roy-Hart 34, Newfane 33
Roy-Hart also won a thriller 34-33 over visiting Newfane as Julianna Buscarino had 3 key free throws and Lila Brigham 1 down the stretch.

Buscarino scored all 9 of her points in the decisive final stanza.

Trailing 13-11 at the half, Roy-Hart rallied into a 24-20 lead at the three quarter mark as Alexis Cacciatore scored all 8 of her points in the third quarter.

Kaitlin Mettler added 7 points for the Lady Rams.

Anna Chunco led Newfane with 11.

Akron 52, Medina 32
Akron bested host Medina 52-32 as Emma Gerstung and Sloan Jonathan both scored 9, Sophia Jones 8 and Rachel Dugah 7.

Rylee VanNostrand scored a game high 25 and Honesty Hill had 7 for Medina.

Up 9-6 after the first quarter, Akron used a 13-1 second period scoring edge to open up a 22-7 half-time advantage. The Lady Tigers maintained a 38-20 advantage at the three-quarter mark.
