Albion girls to open basketball sectionals at home on Tuesday

Photo by Cheryl Wertman – Albion’s Justice Nauden and her Purple Eagle teammates will host Depew at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the opening round of the Section VI Class B1 playoffs.

Seeded No. 6, Albion will open Section VI Class B1 girls basketball playoff action at home Tuesday as the Purple Eagles will host No. 11 Depew at 7 p.m.

Albion brings a 10-9 regular season record into the playoffs while Depew is 7-13.

The winner will visit No. 3 Burgard (9-2) on Thursday in the quarterfinals.

Medina (2-17), which is seeded No. 13 in Class B1, will face No. 4 Buffalo Arts (11-5 at 7 p.m. Tuesday at City Honors.

Newfane (15-4) is seeded No. 2 in Class B1. The Lady Panthers will host the winner of Tuesday’s No. 10 Alden (6-13) vs. No. 7 Tonawanda (11-8) game on Thursday in the quarterfinals.

Niagara-Orleans League champion Wilson (17-2) is seeded No. 1 in Class B2. The Lakewomen will host the winner of Tuesday’s game between No. 9 Akron (8-11) and No. 8 Health Services (7-11) in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

Roy-Hart (4-15), which is seeded No. 12 in Class B2, will visit N-O foe No. 5 CSAT (13-6) on Tuesday. The victor will face the winner of the No. 13 Lackawanna (0-14) vs. No. 4 Fredonia (13-6) in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

In Class C1, No. 5 Barker (9-9) will visit No. 4 Tapestry (10-9) on Thursday in the Quarterfinals.
