Albion girls surge past Barker

Trailing 22-21 at the half, Albion used a big 19-2 third period scoring explosion to key a 53-29 victory over visiting Barker this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball game.

Chanyce Powell scored 9 and Justice Nauden 6 to lead that decisive uprising which rallied Albion into a 40-24 lead at the three-quarter mark.

The Purple Eagles then closed out the win by outscoring Bakrer 13-5 down the stretch as Kelsee Soule tallied 6.

Powell finished with a game high 19 points while Soule had 11, Nauden 10, Sarah Metzler 8, Emily Blanchard and Jessica Raglan 2 and Savannah Allen 1.

Powell also grabbed off 12 rebounds and Soule 11.

Caitlyn Mason and Julia Atwater each scored 10 for Barker as Gabby Clare added 3 and Olivia Denny and Monica LaRock 2 each.

Albion improves to 5-2 and Barker slips to 4-2 in N-O action.

Akron 45, Medina 13
Akron built up a 25-0 half-time advantage over visiting Medina in route to posting 45-13 victory.

Cailin Reagan scored 11 to lead Akron has Tobi Abrams added 8.

DeAndrea Salone had 9 for Medina.

Akron is now 2-4 and Medina 1-6 in the league.

Wilson 45, Newfane 33
Defending champion Wilson jumped out to a 29-12 half-time advantage and went on to defeat rival Newfane 45-33 to stay perfect a top the N-O standings by two full games at 6-0.

Dana Smith had 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks and Emily Lasher 9 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals to lead the way for Wilson.

Brooke Horning scored 15 and Paige Emborsky 10 for Newfane which slips to 5-2.
