Albion girls score win over Medina

Getting point production from eight players, Albion posted a 48-35 victory over visiting rival Medina this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball game.

Brylie Hapeman scored 10, Lexi Wolck 9, Kirsten Struble 8, Natalie Lathrop 6, Sydney Mulka and Honesty Little 5, Kendall Derisley 4 and Paige Derisley 1 for Albion which improves to 2-0 in the league and 4-4 overall. Hapeman also had 8 rebounds and 5 steals and Struble 8 rebounds.

Tyesha Robinson scored 9, Kharise Johnson 6, Maddie Williams and Camri King 5, Anya Bloom 4 and Nadia Osby 2 for Medina.

Medina held a narrow 14-13 lead at the end of the first period but Albion answered with a big 15-4 second quarter scoring surge to rally into a 28-18 lead at the half. Hapeman led that surge with 9.

The Purple Eagles then used a 13-6 third period scoring edge to up the advantage to 41-24 at the three-quarter mark.

In one other N-O game, Akron (1-1) defeated Barker (0-2) 74-28.

In Genesee Region League action, Pembroke defeated Holley 49-24 and Wheatland-Chili downed Lyndonville 52-21.

Dekari Moss took game high honors for Pembroke with 16 while Olivia Radford had 9 and Halee Passarell 8 for Holley.
