Albion girls post win over Medina

Avenging an earlier season loss (48-45), Albion defeated visiting rival Medina 54-41 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League game.

Chanyce Powell scored 16 to lead the Albion offense and Sierra Chudy and Caitlynn Snook both had 8, Emily Blanchard 6, Janae Doty, Natalie Dicureia and Nicole Eldred 4 and Sierra Newton and Elisabeth Baker 2.

Maddie Winters scored 11, Je’ne Brown 9 and Kayla Cuadra and Maddie Williams 6 for Medina.

Powell scored 8 in the opening period to help spark Albion out to a 16-11 lead.

The Purple Eagles went on to hold leads of 27-14 at the half and 45-27 at the three-quarter mark. Chudy and Snook both scored 4 and Doty 3 in the third period.

Albion is now 6-4 and Medina 6-3 in N-O action. The Purple Eagles visit Barker and the Mustangs travel to Newfane on Friday.

The Medina loss also locks up outright possession of an eighth straight N-O title for Wilson (10-1).

Elba 45, Lyndonville 35
Building up a 20-8 half-time advantage, Elba turned back a second half Lyndonville rally to earn a 44-35 Genesee Region League win.

Aubrey Lewis scored 16 and Makenzie Muck 12 for Lyndonville which cut the deficit to 29-21 at the three-quarter mark and then to just three late in the final period. Muck also grabbed off 18 rebounds.

Maddie Muehlig took game high scoring honors for Elba with 17.
Wheatland-Chili 32, Kendall 21

Wheatland-Chili grabbed leads of 11-3 after one period and 13-6 at the half in route to posting a low scoring 32-21 win over Kendall.

Lizzie Rath scored 7, Taylor ReQua 6, Rachael Bakutis 4, Jenna Regan 2 and Lyndsay Wright and Daniela Volkmar 1 each for Kendall.
