Albion girls post win over Akron
Building up a 31-20 halftime advantage, Albion went on to defeat visiting Akron 55-46 this evening to finish the Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball season at 9-5.
Chanyce Powell scored 25 and Justice Nauden 15 to spearhead the Albion attack. Jessica Raglan added 5, Sarah Metzler 4 and Mandi Covis, Olivia Prest and Leah Townsend 2 each for the Purple Eagles.
Powell scored 10 points in the second quarter and 11 in the fourth while Nauden netted 7 in the first and 6 in the second.
Maggie Kowalik took game high honors with 26 for Akron which winds up the N-O campaign at 5-9.
Wilson 51, Newfane 45
Wilson capped off a perfect 14-0 sixth straight N-O championship season with a 51-45 victory over rival Newfane.
Kayla Neuman and Rachel Senek each scored 14 points for Wilson as Serina Jaeger added 8 points and 16 rebounds and Jodie Vincent 6 points, 12 rebounds and 6 blocks.
Paige Emborsky had 14 points and Brooke Horning 10 for Newfane which winds up at 12-2.
Breaking away from a 16-16 tie at the end of the first period, Wilson moved out to narrow leads of 22-21 at the half and 32-29 at the three-quarter mark.
CSAT 48, Medina 20
Up 21-8 at the half, CSAT went on to defeat visiting Medina 48-20.
Finishing the N-O season at 9-5, CSAT was led by Kiara King with 13, Renazja Harris 9 and Mia Jones 8.
Maddy Winters and Nicole Blount both scored 7 and Emily Kams and Allison Bensley 3 each for Medina which finishes at 0-14.
Barker 39, Roy-Hart 26
Leading 23-12 at the half, Barker used a 10-2 fourth quarter scoring edge to lock up a 39-26 win over host Roy-Hart.
Melissa Grosshans scored 9, Kelsie Flegal and Caitlyn Mason 8, Maicie Baker and Lindsey Williams 6 and Courtney Bodine 2 to lead Barker’s balanced attack.
Rielly Albee scored 9, Taylor Fry 7 and Kendra Hill 6 for Roy-Hart.
Barker winds up the N-O season at 5-9 and Roy-Hart at 2-12.
