Albion girls post win over Akron
Wilson bests rival Newfane in battle for lead; CSAT tops Medina
Leading all the way, Albion downed visiting Akron 49-35 this evening to finish the first half of the Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball season at 4-3.
In other N-O action, six time defending champion Wilson defeated rival Newfane 71-55 at Newfane in a key clash of 6-0 teams to take over sole possession of first place.
CSAT also bested visiting Medina 42-31.
Chanyce Powell and Emily Blanchard both scored 11 points to set the pace for Albion which led 13-6 after one quarter, 24-14 at the half and 43-16 at the three-quarter mark.
Sierra Newton also tallied 8 points and Nicole Eldred 7 for the Purple Eagles.
Powell also grabbed off 16 rebounds and Newton 11.
Wilson 71, Newfane 55
Rachel Senek scored 26, Serina Jaeger 15 and Jodie Vincent 10 to lead the way for Wilson which was up 30-22 at the half.
Jaeger also had 8 rebounds and 6 steals, Senek 6 steals and 4 rebounds and Vincent 6 rebounds and 2 blocks.
Paige Emborsky scored 20 and Olivia Littman 14 for Newfane.
CSAT 42, Medina 31
CSAT built up a 28-21 half-time advantage and went on to defeat Medina 42-31.
Kiara King scored 15 and Surenaty Davis-Patterson 14 to set the pace for CSAT.
Maddie Williams scored 10, Je’ne Brown 9 and Molley Gross 8 for Medina. Gross also grabbed off 10 rebounds and Maddy Winters 9.
