Albion girls post Homecoming win
Newfane blanks Albion boys squad
A quick two goal scoring burst just before halftime keyed the Albion girls varsity soccer team to a 3-0 Homecoming victory over visiting Barker this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League contest.
Mariah Elsenheimer broke the scoreless deadlock when she scored what proved to be the game winning goal with only 3:33 to go in the first half off an assist from Ally Page.
Emily Blanchard quickly doubled the Purple Eagles advantage when she scored with just 1:52 remaining.
Blanchard later added an insurance goal with 17:22 remaining in the second half as Katie Mann earned the assist.
Barker goalie Lindsey Williams made no less than two dozen saves on the evening to keep the Lady Raiders in the contest.
Albion is now 4-4 in the league and Barker 1-7.
In the boys game, Newfane used a late first half goal to key a 3-0 N-O win over Albion.
Chad Gilson scored with just a minute to go in the first half to snap a scoreless deadlock as Glen Klummp earned the assist.
Gilson then broke the contest open by scoring two more goals in the first five minutes of the second half off assists first from Klumpp and then from Trevor Moreland.
Newfane remains unbeaten at 6-0 in N-O competition while Albion slips to 2-4-1.
