Albion girls nip Medina/Lyndonville in OT

Albion edged past visiting Medina/Lyndonville 3-2 in overtime this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League girls soccer game.

Claire Squicciarini scored what proved to be the game winner three minutes into the first of two 10 minute overtime periods as Albion regains the .500 mark at 2-2-1 in N-O competition.

Albion also got off to a quick start as Brylie Hapeman scored just 11 minutes into the first half.

Medina/Lyndonville though came battling back to first tie the contest on a goal by Destiny Satkowski with five minutes to join the first half and then to take a 2-1 lead on a goal by Olivia Carter with 18 minutes remaining in the second half.

However, Albion answered right back with a goal by Hapeman just three minutes later to knot the contest at 2-2 and end up forcing overtime.

It was a costly loss for Medina/Lyndonville, which slips to 2-3 in N-O action as Satkowski, the Mustangs leading scorer, was injured early in the second overtime period.

Newfane 2, Akron 0
Goals by Emily Foltz and Kayleigh Daniels late in the second half earned Newfane (3-0-1) a key 2-0 victory over Akron (3-1) vaulting the Lady Panthers into the N-O lead.

Wilson 3, Barker 1
Emily Kelly, Chaylee Wilson and Melanie Gay scored the goals as Wilson (3-1) downed Barker (0-4) 3-1.

Kendall 7, Northstar 0
Megan Hardenbrook and Hailee Mitchell both scored a pair of goals as Lyndsay Wright, Hannah Ulmen and Taylor ReQua each netted one to lead Kendall to a 7-0 non league win over host Northstar.

Brianna Wakefield and Madison Jacob both added a pair of assists for the Lady Eagles which improve to 5-1.
