Albion girls nip Batavia in double overtime

In a marathon battle, Albion outlasted visiting Batavia 70-67 in double overtime this evening in a non league girls basketball game.

Batavia sent the contest into overtime on a three by Mackenzie Reigle which tied the game at 52-52.

The contest remained deadlocked at 58-58 at the end of the first overtime period which saw Chanyce Powell, Janae Doty and Caitlynn Snook all score baskets.

The Purple Eagles finally claimed the win by outscoring the Lady Blue Devils 12-9 in the second overtime period. Powell and Emily Blanchard each tallied 5 to lead that decisive run.

Powell finished with a game high 37 points as Blanchard had 11 and Doty 9.

Ryann Stefaniak scored 21 and Taylor Stefaniak 15 for Batavia.

Albion is now 2-1.
