With new Coach Keith Akers at the helm, the Albion girls varsity basketball team is prepping for the upcoming season led by a group of six returnees.

Senior Madison Hughson, who earned second team Niagara-Orleans All-League honors last season, heads that veteran group which also includes seniors Alison Gibson and Daci Doward along with juniors Paige Newton, Kenzi Snook and Julia Knight.

“Our goal is to work hard, have intensity at both ends of the court and play up to our potential,” said Akers who takes over the Purple Eagles helm from Lucian Price who is now coaching the Kendall girls varsity squad.

The Purple Eagles graduation losses included Skoi Sanders Smith, Olivia Krenning and Samantha Basinait.

Albion will open the season with a trio of non league games including December 1 at LeRoy, Dec. 4 at home against Pembroke and Dec. 13 at home against Elba before beginning the N-O campaign at Akron on Dec. 15.
