Albion knocked Akron from the ranks of the unbeaten by a narrow 3-2 margin this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League softball game.

Meghan Hurley had a big day both at the plate and in the circle to lead the Purple Eagles.

At the plate, Hurley drove in all three runs with a sacrifice fly in the first inning and a two-run homer in the third. In the circle, she allowed only 3 hits and 1 walk.

Akron’s two runs came in the fourth inning ignited by a triple by Abby Stone.

Akron pitcher Mattie Klein allowed only 4 hits.

Akron is now 7-1 and Albion 5-3 in N-O action.

Albion next hosts Medina at 4:45 p.m. Friday.
