Albion girls edge Wilson in key N-O game

Emerging as the league’s only remaining undefeated team, Albion edged past visiting Wilson 2-1 this afternoon in a key Niagara-Orleans girls soccer game.

The victory keeps Albion perfect at 3-0 in N-O action (6-0 overall) while Wilson slips to 1-1.

Albion jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first half as Kendall Derisley netted her second goal of the season off an assist from Brylie Hapeman.

Wilson had a penalty kick bounce off the crossbar three minutes into the second half but the Lakewomen kept the pressure on and finally knotted the contest on  goal by Skylar Munnikhuysen with 24:20 remaining.

The Purple Eagles though answered right back just six minutes later getting what proved to be the game winner when Hapeman scored her fourth goal of the season with 18:28 to go as Claire Squicciarini picked up the assist.

In other N-O action, Akron improved to 2-1 with a 13-1 win over Barker (0-4) as Kara Sequin had 3 goals and Jenna Robnett and Natalie Karmazyn 2 each. Robnett also had 4 assists. Newfane likewise improved to 2-1 with a narrow 1-0 win over Roy-Hart (1-2).

Field Hockey
Roy-Hart downed Sacred Heart 3-0 in a non league game on goals by Ashley Hill, Lexi Lovewell and Miah Glena. Jamie Bower earned the shutout in goal.
