Albion edges Roy-Hart; Medina tops Barker

Albion downed host Roy-Hart 43-36 and Medina bested visiting Barker 48-36 in Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball games this evening.

Wilson topped host Akron 58-46 in the other N-O contest.

Lexi Wolck scored 15, Kendall Derisley 11 and Kirsten Struble 6 to lead the way for Albion while Shelby Wolf tallied 12 and Maddie Fry 9 for Roy-Hart.

Trailing 8-5 after one quarter, Albion used a 14-7 second period scoring edge to rally into a 19-15 lead at the half. Wolck and Struble both scored 4 to lead that surge.

Albion maintained a 33-26 lead at the three-quarter mark.  Wolck then scored 8 in the final stanza to help the Purple Eagles lock up the win.

Medina 48, Barker 36
Camri King and Maddie Williams each scored 15 to set the pace for Medina as Kharise Johnson added 9, Jarielys Flores-Medina 7 and Tyesha Robinson 2.

Gabby Baker took game high scoring honors for Barker with 16.

Medina jumped out to a 15-7 first period lead as Flores-Medina scored 7 and Williams hit a pair of threes.

The Mustangs went on to lead by margins of 26-15 at the half and 33-27 at the three-quarter mark. King then scored 7 in the final stanza to help close out the win.

Wilson 58, Akron 46
Leading by a narrow 33-32 margin after three quarters, Wilson used a big 25-14 fourth quarter scoring surge to best host Akron 58-46.

Skylar Munnikhuysen scored a game high 27 points to lead Wilson, 19 of which came in the second half. Sarah Lewis added 11 and Izzy Dinse 9.

Helena Hill scored 13, Darion Jonathan 12 and Elise Leeds 11 to pace Akron which trailed by only two, 22-20, at the half.

Lockport 42. Newfane 38
Newfane dropped a narrow 42-38 decision to Lockport in a non league game. Megan Knoll scored 12, Paige Littman 8 and Kaitlin Beiter 8 for the Lady Panthers.

Roy-Hart’s Shelby Wolf and Albion’s Tess Pettit battle for a rebound.
