In a tight sea-saw battle throughout the second half Albion emerged with a narrow 40-38 win over host Roy-Hart in a Niagara-Orleans League game this evening.

Trailing 38-37 with less than two minutes to go Albion rallied to pull out the win on a free throw and a layup by Honesty Little.

Little finished with a game high 17 points and Paige Derisley added 12, Aly Knaak 7 and Kendall Derisley and Ryan Olles 2 each for the Purple Eagles.

Shelby Wolf scored 10 and Kara Choate 9 to lead Roy-Hart as Ava Owens and Claire Halstead both added 6, Miah Glena 5 and Rileigh McCabe 2.

Albion held narrow leads of 11-8 after one period and 21-18 at the half as Little scored 9 and Paige Derisley 7 during that stretch. Owens and Halstead both had 6 and Wolf 4 for Roy-Hart over the two periods.

The lead then changed hands three times in the third period which finished with Roy-Hart up by one at 29-28.  Choate, Glena and Wolf each scored 3 in the stanza for the Lady Rams while Little had 5 for the Purple Eagles.

The sea-saw battle then continued down the stretch.

Albion went back up 35-32 after a layup by Knaak and a three and a layup by Paige Derisley.

Roy-Hart then moved back into what proved to be its last lead at 38-37 after a layup by Wolf, a jumper by Glena and a layup off a steal by Choate.

The last rally and the win though belonged to Albion as Little’s free throw and layup in the final minute and a half provided the margin of victory.

Albion is now 5-2 in the league and Roy-Hart 3-4.
