Albion girls edge past Roy-Hart in N-O finale

Avenging an earlier season 44-36 loss, Albion edged past host Roy-Hart 43-40 this evening in a regular season ending Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball game.

Honesty Little scored 20, Sydney Mulka 12 and Abby Scanlan 6 to lead Allbion while Shelby Wolf had 16 for Roy-Hart.

Roy-Hart held narrow leads of 23-21 at the half and 32-31 at the three-quarter mark but Albion rallied with a 12-8 fourth quarter scoring edge to claim the win.

Little had the final two baskets to give the Purple Eagles the narrow win.

Akron 39, Newfane 28

Playing their eighth game in the last nine days, Newfane dropped a 39-28 decision at Akron.

“I’m just very proud of the kids. They’ve been very competitive in every game,” said Newfane Coach Kevin Klumpp of the Lady Panthers hectic schedule caused by an early season Covid-19 related pause.

Madison Henning and Jayni Sundown each scored 10 for Akron while Lilleeane Clark had 9 for Newfane.

Newfane stayed within two, 30-28, late but Akron closed out the win at the free throw line.

Wilson 41, Medina 11

Wilson closed out an 11-0 N-O title season with a 41-11 win over visiting Medina as Maddy Seeley led the way with 15.

Faithann Vanderwalker and Paige Adkins each scored 4 for Medina.

Final N-O Standings: Wilson 11-0, Akron 8-4, Barker 6-6, Newfane 6-6, Albion 5-6, Roy-Hart 5-7, Medina 0-12.
