Albion girls edge Medina; Lyndonville romps

Albion nipped visiting rival Medina 44-42 in the Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball season opener this evening.

Madison Hughson scored 21 to lead Albion as Julia Knight added 7 and Kenzi Snook and Skoi Sanders Smith 5 each. Hughson scored 9 in the third quarter and 8 in the fourth period which also included a key basket by Madison Lebaron which helped lock up the win.

Rylee VanNostrand led Medina with 22 as Honesty Hill and Stella Poler both had 5.

The contest was deadlocked at 20-20 at halftime and Albion held a 32-26 advantage at the three-quarter mark.

In the other N-O opener, Newfane downed Barker 45-26.

Lyndonville 44, Wheatland-Chili 23
Improving to 7-2, Lyndonville posted a 44-23 win over visiting Wheatland-Chili in a Genesee Region League game.

Lyndonville held leads of 14-2 after one quarter, 20-8 at the half and 36-12 after three quarters.

Addison Dillenbeck scored 13, Haley Shaffer 9 and Shelby Boring and Lorelei Dillenbeck 7 each to lead the way for Lyndonville.
