Albion girls earn first victory

Gaining victory No. 1 on the young season, Albion posted a 53-47 win over host Red Jacket this evening in a non league girls basketball game.

Chanyce Powell poured in a career high 31 points and grabbed off 12 rebounds to lead the way for Albion which is now 1-2.

Caitlynn Snook added 9 points and Emily Blanchard and Sierra Newton 5 each for the Purple Eagles which next visits Batavia on Thursday.

Albion led 17-8 after one quarter and 25-17 at the half.

Wilson 40, Iroquois 36
Trailing 19-13 at the half, Wilson used an 18-8 third period scoring edge to key a 40-36 non league win over Iroquois.

Rachel Senek had 12 points 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 5 assists and Serina Jaeger 10 points, 10 rebounds and 8 steals to lead the way for Wilson which also got 7 points each from Kayla Neumann and Jodie Vincent.

Tonawanda 49, Barker 31
Tonawanda moved out to a 25-12 half-time lead and went on to defeat visiting Barker 49-31 in a non league contest.

Lindsey Williams scored 13 and Caitlyn Mason 6 for Barker which is now 3-1.
