Improving to 3-1, Albion posted a 60-52 victory over visiting Buffalo Arts this evening in a non league girls basketball game.

Chanyce Powell scored 20, Sierra Chudy 11 and Caitlynn Snook 10 to lead Albion as Janae Doty added 7, Emily Blanchard 6, Natalie DiCureia 4 and Elisabeth Baker 2.

Breaking away from a 31-31 half-time deadlock, Albion outscored Arts 16-9 in the third period to move out to a 47-40 lead. Powell had 6 and Chudy 4 to lead that Purple Eagle surge.

Albion then outpointed Arts 13-12 down the stretch to lock up the win.

The Purple Eagles jumped out to a 16-9 first period lead as Powell tallied 8 and Snook 4. However, Arts answered with a 22-15 second period scoring edge to pull into a 31-31 tie at the half.

The start of the game was delayed by some 45 minutes as the Arts bus took the wrong route to get to Albion.

Albion next visits Niagara Catholic in a non league game at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday before opening the Niagara-Orleans League season at Medina on Friday.
