The host Purple Eagles edged past Sweet Home 3-2 this evening in the championship game of the Albion girls soccer tournament.
The combination of senior Abby Scanlan and freshman Carmryn London accounted for all three Albion goals as the Purple Eagles improve to 2-0 on the young season.
Scanlan scored from London with 19 minutes to go in the first half to give Albion a 1-0 lead.
Sweet Home knotted the contest by scoring with just 44 seconds to go in the first half but the London to Scanlan combination clicked again just 12 minutes into the second half to put the Purple Eagles back on top to stay at 2-1.
Scanlan later scored what proved to be a huge game winning goal again off an assist from London with just 4:36 remaining for a 3-1 Purple Eagles lead as Sweet Home tallied with just 1:40 remaining to make the finish exciting.
Albion next visits Newfane at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Niagara-Orleans League opener.
