Albion earns split in youth football action
Albion split with Newfane in Niagara Orleans Football Association (NOFA) action Saturday. Albion won the Beginner and Mini games while Newfane took the JV and Varsity contests.
Beginner
Albion 20, Newfane 0
In a battle of the unbeatens, Moses Taylor’s 2 touchdown runs in the 4th quarter helped give Albion the 20-0 victory. Taylor finished the day with 174 yards rushing, Elian Almonte 90 yards, Conor Murphy 25 yards, Greyson Roberts 48 yards and a TD. Almonte also added two PAT’s.
On defense, Almonte was all over the field leading with a team high 15 tackles. Taylor had 7, Chase Armer, Carter Carithers, Roberts and Murphy also had great days on defense. Murphy picked up a interception and Taylor a fumble recovery.
Mini
Albion 27, Newfane 0
Camden Holt led the Mini Eagles offense with 148 yards rushing, a score and a PAT. Jayce Torres picked up 96 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jace DiMatteo connected with Liam Pearl on a 8 yard TD pass and a PAT.
Harrison Froman led the defense with 9 tackles as Zion O’Neal had 8, Liam Saporito 5 and DiMatteo had a interception.
JV
Newfane 8 Albion 7
Landyn Galligan led with defense with 10 tackles. Heyden Almonte had 6 and a interception. Matthew Schomske, Anthony O’Neal, Colton Moreland, Giovanni LaMartina, Connor Hinckley and Connor Jurs had great day for the defense.
Almonte had 76 yards rushing, a TD and PAT for the offense.
Varsity

Kendrick Russaw, Mosehard Hunt, James Kirsten, Colin Smith, Oliver Stoffa, Tyreik Johnson, Edwin Dudley, Hayden Cowley, Kota Palmer, Hoyt Aina and Luke Bedford helped led the Eagles.
