Albion duo heads Orleans Hub All-Area girls team

Albion’s high scoring duo of senior Justice Nauden and sophomore Chanyce Powell head the first team of the second annual OrleansHub All-Area girls basketball squad.

The first team also includes Kendall senior Tania Arellano, Holley senior Sam Barniak, Roy-Hart junior Emma Lindke and sixth man Barker junior Caitllyn Mason.

Nauden, a four year varsity player, scored 276 points (13.1 ave.) overall on the season. In league play she also had 57 rebounds, 52 steals and 39 assists.

Powell led the Purple Eagles in both scoring with 340 points (16.1 ave.) overall on the season. In league play she also had a team leading 171 rebounds as well as 41 steals and 21 assists.

Arellano averaged a double-double with 266 points (13.3 ave.) and 215 rebounds (10.7 ave.) to lead Kendall in both categories. She also had 54 steals.

Barniak scored 194 points (10.2 ave) and had 93 rebounds, 33 steals and 32 assists.

Lindke tallied 217 points (11.4 ave.) and had 141 rebounds, 28 steals and 20 assists.

Mason scored 174 points (9.1 ave.) and had 52 rebounds, 42 steals and 12 assists.

The second team is comprised of five seniors including Taylor Kingsbury from Kendall, Jade Underwood from Holley, Morgan Hungerford from Lyndonville, Melissa Grosshans from Barker and Taylor Fry from Roy-Hart along with freshman Taylor ReQua from Kendall, the unit’s sixth man.

Kingsbury scored 203 points (10.15 ave.) and had 189 rebounds, 38 steals and 22 blocks.

Underwood led Holley on the boards with 216 rebounds. She also scored 102 points and had 28 steals. Hungerford averaged 11 rebounds, 8 points and 3 steals.

Grosshans scored 154 points (8.1 ave.) and had 44 rebounds and 15 steals.

Fry had 151 rebounds, 118 points, 117 assists and 75 steals.

ReQua, who led Kendall in steals with 75, also had 102 points, 60 rebounds and 42 assists.

Earning Honorable Mention are Albion seniors Sarah Metzler and Mandi Covis, Medina senior Maddy Winters and sophomore Molley Gross, Lyndonville senior Rebekah Hoffee and sophomore Aubrey Lewis and Roy-Hart senior Kendra Hill.
