Albion downs top seeded City Honors

Photo by Cheryl Wertman – Dallas Ecker hurled Albion past City Honors in a B1 quarterfinal contest this afternoon.

Scoring in six different innings, No. 8 seed Albion bested host No. 1 City Honors 11-3 this afternoon in the quarterfinals of the Section VI Class B1 baseball playoffs.

Amari Jones and Javon Jones both had 3 hits and Chris Sacco to lead Albion at the plate.

Dallas Ecker went the distance on the mound for the Purple Eagles scattering 6 hits and striking out 6.

Albion will next visit No. 4 Lew-Port in the semifinals at 5 p.m. Thursday. Lew-Port blanked No. 5 Olean 3-0.

Class C
No. 3 Maple Grove scored four unearned runs to edge visiting No. 6 Barker 4-2 in a Class C quarterfinal round game.

Barker scored once in the first as Jaret Black doubled and came home on a sacrifice fly by Aidan Voss and once in the 6th on a sacrifice by Andy Hill.

Hill went the distance on the mound for the Raiders giving up 4 hits and strikeout out 3.

In another Class C quarterfinal, No. 1 Portville defeated No. 9 Wilson 16-0.

Section V Tennis
Perry defeated Holley 4-1 and York downed Kendall 3-2  in a Section V playoff matches.
