Albion cagers to face key road tests
Photo by Cheryl Wertman – Albion’s Brady Meakin and his Purple Eagle teammates face key Niagara-Orleans League road tests this coming week at Wilson and Roy-Hart.
Battling to stay in the Niagara-Orleans League title chase, the Albion boys basketball squad faces a pair of key tests on the road this coming week.
Currently at 4-2 and two games off the pace, Albion will visits Wilson (3-4) on Tuesday and runner-up Roy-Hart (6-1) on Friday.
The Purple Eagle nipped the Lakemen 61-58 earlier in the season but lost an equally close 55-53 decision to the Rams.
Roy-Hart also faces a key road test on Tuesday at CSAT (2-4) which lost a close 69-60 decision at front-running Medina on Friday night.
Medina, which is currently in first place at 6-0, likewise faces a key road test at Newfane (3-4) on Tuesday. The Mustangs downed the Panthers 65-57 in their earlier meeting.
Lyndonville, which at 6-2 is in the thick of the chase for the Genesee Region League Division 2 title, also faces a pair of key road tests at Oakfield-Alabama on Monday and at Byron-Bergen on Wednesday.
In N-O swim action, the undefeated (7-0) Roy-Hart boys squad will be looking to lock up outright possession of a 10th straight title when the Channel Cats hosts Medina on Wednesday.
In wrestling action, Lyndonville will host Holley in a G-R match and Medina will entertain Barker/Roy-Hart in an N-O contest on Wednesday. Medina will also host the second annual Gary Gross Memorial Tournament on Saturday.
