Purple Eagles cagers defeat Rams
Five players scored in double figures keying Albion to a 72-65 victory over host Roy-Hart this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League boys basketball game.
Liam Ward scored 16, Demetrius Gardner 13, Bryce Pritchard 12, Deyonci Farley 11 and Vincent Zona 10 to spark the Purple Eagles.
Roy-Hart, which played without scoring leader Jake Bruning, got a career high 33 points from Noah Kindron. Charlie Bruning added 13 for the Rams as Blake Halstead chipped in with 9 and Charlie Brigham and Lance Krieger 8.
Breaking away from a 29-29 half-time deadlock, Albion used a 26-16 third period scoring advantage to open up a 55-45 lead at the three-quarter mark. Pritchard tallied 8 and Ward 6 to lead that decisive uprising.
Albion is now 2-2 and Roy-Hart 0-4 in N-O action.
Newfane 79, Barker 39
Roaring out to a 48-18 half-time advantage, Newfane went on to down Barker 79-39 to maintain a share of the N-O lead at 3-0.
Kyle DeVooogel scored a game high 22 points and Brandon Gross added 11 to lead the Panthers.
Preston Harris scored 13 for Barker.
