Albion boys win five at All-League track meet

Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Albion’s Chase Carleton soars to a win in the Pole Vault at the All-League meet this afternoon at Roy-Hart.

The Albion boys track squad scored five victories this afternoon on the second and final day of the annual Niagara-Orleans All-League meet at Roy-Hart.

Tre Yaskuslski, who won the Triple Jump (40-6) on Wednesday, added victories in both the 110 Hurdles (:15.79) and Long Jump (19-2) this afternoon. He also teamed up with Sam Sanchez, Ugene Harrison and Kendyll Hadick to win the 400 Relay (:45.6).

The Purple Eagles also had Chase Carleton win the Pole Vault (11-0) and Chris Shabazz the Pentathlon.

Medina’s Christian Drisdom took top honors in the High Jump (5-6).

Newfane’s Reese Casinelli was a triple winner in the sprint events taking the 100 in :11.3, the 200 in :22.7 and the 400 in :51.8.

The Panthers, also took both the 1600 Relay (3:44) and the 3200 Relay (8:56.3) and the Shotput as Trent Stymus had a throw of 41-11.

Barker’s Peter DiLorenzo won the 400 Hurdles (:57.4) and Wilson’s Will Schwartzmueller the 1600 (4:39).

In the girls competition, Medina had Olivia Carter win the Long Jump (25-5) and Devin Griffin the Pentathlon.

Roy-Hart’s Kali Scharping captured the High Jump (5-0).

Barker’s Shelby Ewald, who won the Discus on Wednesday (98-0), took the Shotput today with a throw of 32-9.

Newfane’s Ashlin Joseph doubled in the 100 Hurdles (:16.9) and 400 Hurdles (1:10.1).

The Lady Panthers also had Gina Shorter win the 200 (:13.2), Rachel Chunco the 400 (1:04.2) and Kim Goerss the 1500 (4:56). Goerss also won the 800 (2:21.5) on Wednesday.

Akron’s Haley Hall won the 200 (:27.1).

Newfane won both the 400 Relay (:51.7) and 3200 Relay (10:01.3) while Akron took the 1600 Relay (4:26.48).

Shelby Ewald of Barker won the Shotput with a throw of 32 feet, 9 inches.

This trio races in the 400 meter hurdles. They include Hunter Heil of Medina, Tony Freeman of Albion and Will Rickard of Roy-Hart. Barker’s Peter DiLorenzo won the event.

Kendyll Hadick takes the baton from Ugene Harrison in the last leg of Albion’s winning 4 by 100 relay team.

Wilson’s Will Schwartzmueller won the 1600 in 4:39, just ahead of Ozzy Moore of Roy-Hart. On Wednesday, Moore won the 3200 with Schwartzmueller in second in that race.
