Albion boys lock up N-O track championship

Ending a nearly decade long drought, Albion defeated host Barker 91 1/2-38 1/2 this afternoon to lock up the Niagara-Orleans League boys track championship.

The Purple Eagles, which last claimed the N-O crown in 2010, finish the dual meet portion of the league season at 6-0.

Tre Yaskulski doubled in the 110 Hurdles and Triple Jump and Nate Moore in the Long Jump and High Jump for Albion which also got individual event wins from Ugene Harrison (100), Ozzie Matos (400), Sam Sanchez (200), Owen Hunt (3200). Malachi Sugar (Pole Vault), Kirk Ellison (Shotput) and Nick Perry (Discus).

Ian DiLorenzo won the 400 Hurdles and Steven Class the 800 and 1600 for Barker which finishes at 3-3.

The Albion girls completed the sweep by downing Barker 88-52.

Emma Mathes was a triple winner in the 800, 1500 and 3000 for Albion as Honesty Little doubled in the 100 Hurdles and Long Jump and Abby Scanlan in the 100 and 200. The Purple Eagles also had Bri Haines win the Pole Vault and Emma Tower the 400 Hurdles.

Shelby Ewald doubled in the Shotput and Discus for Barker as Bailey Sutch took the High Jump and Katrina Clare the 400.

Albion and Barker both finish at 2-4.

Emma Mathes was a triple winner for Albion, winning the 800, 1500 and 3000.

Steven Class of Barker wins the 800 meter race today, holding off Sh’kwe Riley, center, and Kyle Pappalardo.
