Albion bows in softball sectional opener

Scoring in each of the first six innings, No. 9 East Aurora posted a 17-2 win over host No. 8 Albion this afternoon in the opening round of the Section VI Class B1 softball playoffs.

Breaking away from a 2-2 deadlock, East Aurora moved on top to stay by scoring 5 times in the third inning on 4 walks, 2 errors and 1 hit.

The Blue Devils later locked up the win by scoring 5 times on 5 hits in the fifth frame to extend the lead to 14-2.

Albion tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the first as Isabella Prest tripled and Janae Doty and Kendall Eible followed up with RBI singles.

Prest had a total of 3 hits on the day and Doty 2.

East Aurora next visits top seed Depew in the quarterfinals.

Wilson 14, Olmsted 5

No. 10 Wilson scored in 5 different innings to defeat host No. 7 Olmsted 14-5 in the opening round of the Class B2 playoffs.

Winning pitcher Kira Zappy and Alex Seeley both had 3 hits and Jen Darlak a double and 4 RBIs to lead the way for Wilson which next visits No. 2 Fredonia in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
