Albion bows in GLOW 18U playoff title game
Unable to capitalize on two good early inning scoring opportunities, Albion dropped a 6-0 decision to Pavilion in the GLOW Baseball League 18U Division playoff championship game Wednesday evening at Dwyer Stadium in Batavia.
Three players reached base for Albion in the first inning on a walk and singles by Drew Boyce and Nate Gibson but an out at home and a double play quickly ended the threat.
Again in the second inning Albion got the bases loaded with no outs on a walk, an error and a hit batter but could not capitalize as three strikeouts wiped out the opportunity.
Later, Gavin Boyce and Mason Snook reached on singles in the fifth inning but again Albion was unable to cross home plate as a strikeout ended the scoring chance.
Pavilion moved on top to stay by scoring three quick runs in the first inning on a walk, a single, an error and a wild pitch.
Later, Pavilion’s only other hit, a two-run single by Liam Strathern, keyed a three-run sixth inning uprising which locked up the win.
Gibson hurled the two hitter for Albion as he registered 10 strikeouts.
Albion finishes the season at 9-3-1.
