Albion booters sweep Homecoming doubleheader

Celebrating Homecoming and avenging an earlier season 8-1 drubbing, Albion nipped Roy-Hart 1-0 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League boys soccer game.

Jacob Leggat netted the lone goal for Albion in the first half off an assist from Nich Reed.

Chase Hall earned the shutout in goal.

Albion is now 2-6-1 in N-O action and Roy-Hart 3-5-1.

Completing the Homecoming sweep, the Albion girls downed Medina 6-1.

Albion jumped out to a 4-1 first half advantage as Mariah Elsenheimer scored twice, off assists from Kendall Piccirilli and Abby Squicciarini. Piccirilli also scored from Emily Blanchard and Kelsey Schmitt had an unassisted tally.

Kyla Leno scored for Medina.

The Purple Eagles added a pair of second half goals by Squicciarini and Blanchard.

Albion improves to 7-3 and Medina slips to 3-7.

Non League

Medina/Lyndonville 4, Attica 1
Jumping out to a 3-1 half-time lead, Medina/Lyndonville went on to defeat host Attica 4-1 this afternoon in a non league boys soccer game.

Breaking away from a 1-1 deadlock, Medina/Lyndonville moved on top to stay with two quick goals in the last five minutes of the first half by Ben Howell and Steven Anderson on a penalty kick. Howell also netted the Mustangs first goal of the afternoon.

Medina/Lyndonville put a lock on the victory on a second half goal by James Ianni.

The Mustangs are now 7-3-2 overall on the season.
