Albion booters romp in tourney opener

Getting goal production from eight different players, Albion romped to an 11-0 victory over Vertus Charter this evening in the opening round of the Byron-Bergen boys soccer tournament.

Leonel Rosario, Kendyll Hadick and Spencer Lombard each scored two goals to spearhead the Albion attack which also included tallies by Noel Vasquez, Brad Sanford, Alex Rustay, Noah Goudreau and Thomas Hollenbeck.. Preston Flugel chipped in with 4 assists.

Now at 2-1 overall, Albion will play in the championship at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Holley 5, University Prep 3
John Mounts scored 3 goals and Matt Wilson 2 to spark Holley to a 5-3 non league win over visiting University Prep.

Girls Soccer
Akron 1, Wilson 0
Kara Sequin scored the lone goal for Akron and Laurie Poeller made 12 saves in the net to key the Lady Tigers to a 1-0 win over Wilson in a Niagara-Orleans League contest.

Volleyball
Byron-Bergen 25-25-25, Albion 14-16-16
Lauren Burke had 8 kills, 2 aces and 12 assists and Madison Farnsworth 12 kills to lead Byron-Bergen to a straight set non league win over Albion.

Natalie Lathrop had 4 kills and 7 digs, Caitlynn Snook 3 kills and 2 aces and Taylor Walczek 4 blocks and 3 kills for Albion.
