Albion booters nipped in OT

Newfane scored a goal in the first of two 10 minute overtime periods to nip Albion 2-1 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League girls soccer game.

Allison Dunn netted the game winner for Newfane with 1:25 to go in the first overtime as Albion had a shot glance off the post late in the second overtime.

Albion had tied the game at 1-1 in dramatic fashion as Kayla Doyle scored on a long direct kick with just 25 seconds to go in regulation time.

Newfane had grabbed a 1-0 lead on a goal by Sophie Connor three minutes into the second half off an assist from Savannah Jonathan.

Newfane improves to 8-3-1 and Albion slips to 8-4.

Wilson 5, Medina 0
Wilson maintained a narrow half game N-O league lead by blanking visiting Medina 5-0.

Improving to 10-0-2, Wilson got goals from five different players including Emily Paterson, Holly Rudolph, Lauren Austin, Kayla Newman and Taylor Devole.

The loss drops Medina to 4-8.

Akron stayed within a half game of the top spot at 10-1-1 by blanking winless (0-12) Barker 6-0.

Kendall 1, Alexander 0
Kendall made a lone goal by Maya Rutland, off an assist from Taylor ReQua, stand up for a narrow 1-0 Genesee Region League victory over visiting Alexander.

Jorden Ammerman made eight saves to earn the shut-out in goal for Kendall which improves to 10-1-2.

Holley 2, Pembroke 0
Riley Sanger scored a goal in the first half and Nicki Mauro tallied in the second half to earn Holley a 2-0 G-R victory over host Pembroke.

Sanger also earned the assist on the second goal and Sarah Wharram on the first tally.

Holley improves to 7-3-4.

Notre Dame 3, Lyndonville 0
All of the scoring came in the second half as Notre Dame blanked visiting Lyndonville 3-0 in a G-R game.
