Avenging an earlier season 3-1 loss, Albion blanked visiting Medina/Lyndonville 2-0 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League boys soccer game.

Owen Foos scored what proved to be the game winning goal for Albion with 8:50 to go in the first half off an assist from Nick Reed.

Earlier in the half, the Purple Eagles had one line drive shot rattle off the cross bar and another shot just whistle past the corner of the Mustangs net.

The Purple Eagles later got an insurance goal from Connor McQuillan in the second half as Kendyll Hadick earned the assist.

Devin Gaylord earned the shutout in goal.

“We needed it,” said Albion Coach Keith Akers of the victory. “We played with more energy tonight.”

Albion is now 3-7 and Medina/Lyndonville 4-5 in N-O action.

Newfane 2, Akron 1
Newfane, which has already locked up a second straight N-O title, edged past Akron 2-1 on second half goals by Bobby Heers and Mateo May.

Newfane finishes the N-O season perfect at 10-0 while Akron slips to 2-7.
