Albion, Barker split in N-O swim opener

Host Albion and Barker both came away with a victory this afternoon to open the Niagara-Orleans League swim season.

Albion won the boys meet 52-42 and Barker took the girls competition 59-35.

Carlitos Sanchez was a double winer for the Albion boys in the 100 Free and 100 Backstroke as Matt Kovaleski took the 100 Butterfly and Sam Sanchez the 50 Free.

Andrew Jenks was a double winner for Barker in the 200 Individual Medley and 500 Free.

The Barker girls were sparked by wins by Sara Gendrue in the 100 Breaststroke, Natalie Bruning in the 100 Backstroke, Christiana Carestia in the 500 Free and Natalie Menz in the 50 Free.

Michaela Pantano doubled in the 200 Free and 100 Buttefly and Liz Furmanski took both the 200 IM and 100 Free for Albion.

Albion next hosts Medina at 4:30 p.m. Friday while Barker visits Roy-Hart at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
