Albion and Roy-Hart post N-O road wins; Holley tops Byron-Bergen in G-R contest
Albion and Roy-Hart both scored Niagara-Orleans League baseball victories on the road this afternoon.
Albion blanked Barker 17-0 and Roy-Hart downed Newfane 11-1.
Leading 3-0, Albion broke the contest open by scoring six runs in the fourth inning highlighted by a single by winning pitcher Thomas Furmanski, an RBI double by Isaiah Callicutt and a two-run single by Liam Ward.
Ward had a total of 3 hits, including a double and triple with four RBIs, Callicutt 3 hits and Furmanski and Harrison Brown 2 each. Furmanski’s hits included a triple.
On the mound, Furmanski, who had a no hitter through six innings, went 6 and 1/3 allowing 1 hit with 14 strikeouts. Vincent Zona came on to get the final two outs.
For Roy-Hart, Ben Schwab went the distance on the mound allowing 2 hits with 9 strikeouts.
Breaking away from an early 1-1 tie, Roy-Hart took the lead for good by scoring 5 times in the second inning highlighted by a bases clearing three-run triple by Gavyn Boyle. Jake Bruning also had an RBI double and Charlie Brigham and RBI single.
Boyle also had a two-run single in the seventh inning.
Boyle, Jake Bruning and Charlie Bruning each finished with 2 hits.
Roy-Hart is now 2-0 and Newfane 0-1.
Holley opened Genesee Region League competition by defeating Byron-Bergen 12-1 as Patrick Bower hurled a 2 hitter with 9 strikeouts.
The Hawks broke the contest open with a big 9 run second inning ignited by a two-run double by Mike Passarell.
Sammy Lames also had a double and single and Ryan Andrews a double on the day for the Hawks.
