Albion tops Barker to move into second place
Moving into second place, Albion bested host Barker 7-2 this afternoon to improve to 3-0 in Niagara-Orleans League baseball competition.
Andrew Boyce, Elliott Trapiss and winning pitcher Nate Gibson each had 2 hits to lead the Albion offense.
Gibson allowed only 3 hits and struck out 11 in six innings of work on the mound.
Albion jumped out to an early 3-0 lead scoring once on a ground out off the bat of Drew Pritchard and twice in the third on an error and a ground out off the bat of Mason Snook.
The Purple Eagles upped the advantage to 6-0 with 3 runs in the fourth frame on an RBI single by Trapiss and a two-run single by Gavin Boyce.
Gibson tacked on an RBI double in the sixth inning. Aaden Munn had a double for Barker which slips to 2-4.
Newfane 12, Wilson 7
Newfane outlasted rival Wilson 12-7 as the Panthers completed a home and home sweep over the Lakemen.
Trailing 7-6, Newfane rallied into the lead for good at 8-7 by scoring twice in the sixth inning on an error.
The Panthers then locked up the win by erupting for 4 runs in the seventh inning ignited by a two-run single by Tristen Smith.
Smith and Aiden Perry both had a pair of hits for the Panthers.
Tyler Johnston had a triple and Cam Beyer a double for Wilson.
Newfane is now 2-3 and Wilson 1-5 in N-O action.
Roy-Hart 6, West Seneca East 3
Roy-Hart downed host West Seneca East 6-3 in a non league game.
The Rams scored once in the first on a double by RJ Townsend, twice in the third on a double by John Brigham and three times in the fifth on a two-run single by Scott Clark and an RBI single by Will Bundrock.
Townsend, Bundrock and Evan Poeller each had a pair of hits for the Rams.
