Albion U16 wins in 8 to advance in playoffs
Albion outlasted Notre Dame 14-9 in 8 innings Tuesday evening to advance in the Batavia U16 League playoffs.
Breaking away from an 8-8 deadlock, Albion erupted for 6 runs in the top of the eighth inning on doubles by Mike Harling and Bryce Kelly along with singles by Deyonci Farley, Patrick Ricker, Ryan Krenning, Dylan Fox and 4 walks to lock up the victory.
Albion, which banged out a total of 14 hits, also got off to a quick start scoring 3 runs in the first inning on hits by Kelly, Farley, Ricker and Bailey Blanchard.
Fox and Kelly both finished with three hits as Harling, Farley and Ricker each had 2.
On the mound, Kelly struck out 11 in 5 innings and Fox fanned 5 in 3 frames.
Albion now faces Batavia 1 in the losers bracket final this evening. The winner will then take on LeRoy 1 in the championship game.
