Akron trio heads All-League field hockey team

A trio of players from champion Akron head the annual Niagara-Orleans All-League field hockey team.

Akron, which captured the N-O title with a 12-0 record, is represented by the senior trio of Madison Brege, Lacey Berghorn and Sophia Jones. Brege, who was named N-O Player of the Year, and Berghorn are both repeat selections. On the season, Brege had 20 goals and 6 assists, Berghorn 17 goals and 4 assists and Jones 9 goals and 3 assists.

Runner-up Barker, which went 10-2, is represented by the senior duo of Mia Herman and Ashlin Cole, who are both repeat honorees. Herman had 16 goals and 9 assists and Cole 2 goals and 1 assist.

Medina, which finished in third place at 8-4, has placed junior Iyla Lilleby, who is a repeat selection, and freshman Penelope Schalck. Lilleby had 24 goals and 10 assists and Schalck 14 goals and 13 assists.

Rounding out the first team are Roy-Hart senior Cheyenne Stilwell, who had 7 goals and 3 assists, Newfane freshman Roxy Smith, Wilson junior Natalie Rossi and Kenmore senior Genevieve Mucitelli who is a repeat selection.

Akron also has a trio of second team honorees including senior Melanie Holtz, junior Olivia McClaine and freshman Morgan Tomporowski.

Barker is represented by seniors Miya Goodale and Aailyah Wheat and Medina by senior Rachel Hill and junior Arianna Bloom.

Medina’s Penelope Schalck and Iyla Lilleby and Newfane’s Roxy Smith.

Completing the second team are Roy-Hart senior Lorna Becker, Newfane sophomore Kyra Austin, Wilson junior Aubriana Cristiano and Kenmore senior Alannah Smith.
