Akron trims Medina in N-O diamond contest
In a pitchers duel, Akron opened its Niagara-Orleans League baseball season schedule with a 3-1 home field win over defending co-champion Medina.
Drew Romesser picked up the win on the mound for the Tigers allowing 3 hits and striking out 6 over six and two-thirds innings. Aiden Romesser came on to register a strikeout for the final out in the seventh as Medina left a runner stranded at second base.
Aidan Paul went the distance on the mound for Medina likewise allowing only 3 hits and striking out 13.
Trailing 1-0, Akron rallied into the lead on an RBI triple by Vincent Consiglio and an error in the fourth. The Tigers added an insurance run on a home run by Jack Julicher in the sixth inning.
Julian Woodworth and Aiden Pitts had doubles for Medina which is now 2-1 in N-O action.
Alexander 16, Holley 6
Alexander bested Holley 16-6 in a Genesee Region League game.
Eli Lang, Seth Janus and Brenden Trowbridge each had 2 hits for Holley.
