Akron tops R-H in key field hockey contest

All of the scoring took place in the first half as defending champion Akron edged past host Roy-Hart 2-1 this afternoon in a key Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game.

Akron stays perfect at 6-0 at the halfway point of the N-O season while Roy-Hart slips to 4-2.

Akron grabbed an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Kaitlyn Gaik just five minutes in.

Roy-Hart pulled even as Shannon Dent tallied with 15 minutes to go in the half but Abby Stone answered right back with what proved to be the game winner for Akron just three minutes latter.

Barker 6, Kenmore 0
Barker took over sole possession of second place at 5-1 by blanking Kenmore (1-5) 6-0.

Barker grabbed a 2-0 first half lead on a pair of goals by Lena Fazzolari.

The Lady Raiders then closed out the win on second half goals by Katrina Clare, Sarah Mason, Lydia Dewart and Emily Annable.
Wilson 2, Medina 0
Two goals in the first four minutes earned Wilson a 2-0 Senior Night victory over visiting Medina.

Alex Seeley and Erin Boyle scored the goals for Wilson which regains the .500 mark at 3-3.

The loss drops Medina to 1-5.
