Akron tops Medina in N-O field hockey

Scoring twice in each half defending champion Akron downed Medina 4-0 at Vets Park this evening to remain undefeated at 5-0 in Niagara-Orleans League field hockey competition.

Courtney Johnt scored 2 goals for Akron as Alexis Bell and Abby Stone each chipped in with 1.

The loss drops Medina to 2-3.

Barker 1, Wilson 0
A goal in the first three minutes by Madison Gancasz, off an assist from Jillian Moeller, proved to be just enough to earn Barker a narrow 1-0 victory over visiting Wilson.

Haley Brown anchored the defense and lay in the midfield area for the Lady Raiders.

Barker improves to 4-1 while Wilson slips to 2-3.

Volleyball
Pembroke 25-25-19-25, Albion 20-19-25-20
Pembroke posted a four set non league volleyball win over Albion as Amanda Knauss had 5 kills and 1 ace, Mackenzie Jurek 8 aces and 3 kills and Casey Wurtz 8 aces.

Caitlyn Snook had 6 kills and 3 aces and Hailey Smith 6 kills for Albion.

Byron-Bergen 25-25-25, Notre Dame 15-11-17

Madison Farnsworth had 8 kills and 5 aces, Stephanie Buell 6 kills and 3 aces and Lauren Burke 3 kills and 3 aces to lift undefeated (6-0) Byron-Bergen to a straight set win over Notre Dame (2-3) in a Genesee Region League match.  Adryona Miller had 4 blocks for N.D.
