Akron tops Medina in field hockey semifinal
Top seeded defending champion Akron downed No. 4 Medina 4-0 in the semifinals of the Section VI field hockey playoffs this evening at Alden.
Mackenzie Tomporowski and Morgan Tomporowski scored first quarter goals to get Akron rolling.
The Lady Tigers locked up the win on second half goals by Averi Monkelbaan and Julia Klodzinski.
In the other semifinal, No. 7 Eden upended No. 3 Roy-Hart 6-5.
Adella Dues scored 3 goals for Roy-Hart as Brooke Zglinicki and Violette Streckewald each added 1.
Akron will now face Eden in the Class C championship game at 6 p.m. Monday at Alden.
