Akron tops Barker in key field hockey game

Opening up a two game lead, defending champion Akron downed runner-up Barker 3-0 in a key Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game this afternoon at Akron.

With the win Akron improves to 6-0 in N-O action as Barker slips to 5-2.

Akron jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead as Nevada Bergman scored what proved to be the game winning goal just five minutes in off an assist from Olivia McClaine.

It stayed a tight 1-0 game until midway through the third period when Akron erupted for two quick goals in the span of about a minute. McClaine scored the first off an assist from Madigan Regan and Julia Klodzinski tallied the second from Morgan Tomporowski.

Medina 8, Sacred Heart 0
Medina won a non league contest over Sacred Heart 8-0 as Iyla Lilleby scored 2 goals and Maggie Lonnen, Penelope Schalck, Sophia Goyette, Emi Batista, Baileigh McAdoo and Taylor Frentz each had 1.
