Akron sweeps twin bill from Medina
Roy-Hart, Barker score wins
Improving to 9-2, Akron swept to a doubleheader victory over Medina by scores of 9-1 and 13-0 this afternoon in Niagara-Orleans softball action at Vets Park.
Morgan Kidder hit a home run to highlight a three run first inning for Akron in the opener as pitcher Brooke Peters struck out 10.
Mallori Wienke had two hits for Medina.
In the second game, two-run singles by Mo Carberry highlighted three run uprisings in both the first and second innings to ignite Akron.
Medina slips to 1-8.
Roy-Hart 10, Newfane 1
Roy-Hart got back onto the winning track by downing Newfane 10-1 to improve to 7-2 and stay in the thick of the title chase.
Taylor Fry scattered six hits and struck out seven in the circle and also banged out three hits at the plate to lead Roy-Hart.
Ashley Bower also had three hits for the Lady Rams as Sam Brown and Maddi Hiddie both added two.
Roy-Hart took charge with a six run fourth inning highlighted by a three run triple by Bower and a two run single by Hiddie.
Barker 7, 4, CSAT 0, 3
Erika Moeller hurled a four hit shutout with six strikeouts to lead Barker past CSAT 7-0 in the opener of the doubleheader.
Destinee Hillman had three hits, including a triple, as Heather Mason and Mary Rounds both had two to spark the Lady Raiders at the plate.
In the second game, Barker bunched all of its offense into a four run third inning which included a lead off home run by Kelsey Blackley, triples by Brooke Targus and Ann Buffington and a double by Rounds.
Blackley picked up the win in the circle scattering four hits and striking out five.
Barker improves to 7-5 and CSAT slips to 2-10.
Notre Dame 9, 17, Lyndonville 8, 9
Host Notre Dame swept to a doubleheader victory over Lyndonville by scores of 9-8 and 17-9 in Genesee Region League action.
Morgan Hungerford and Katie Albone both had two hits including a double in the first game for Lyndonville which was plagued by seven errors.
Maddy Gardepe had three hits including a pair of triples, Maddy Boyle three including a triple and Hungerford two including a triple in the second game for Lyndonville which slips to 7-3.
Byron-Bergen 13, Holley 5
Maddy Pritchard had three hits and Bailey Papaj two for Holley in a 13-5 G-R loss to Byron-Bergen.
