Unable to keep the momentum from a fast start the Medina lacrosse squad dropped a 17-10 decision to host Akron this afternoon in the Class D Division regular season finale.

Medina jumped out to a 3-0 lead at the outset on goals by Tommy Vasquez, Chaise Prest and Mitchell Silversmith.

However, Akron answered back with a 6-1 scoring edge to close the period and rally into the lead for good at 6-4.

The Tigers went on to maintain leads of 10-7 at the half and 12-8 after three quarters.

Vasquez, Prest and Mitchell Silversmith each finished with 2 goals as Cooper Fearby, Mark Reigle, Cayden Lilleby and Christian Silversmith each chipped in with 1.

Akron finishes the Class D Division season at 6-2 and Medina at 4-4.

The Mustangs will close out the regular season with a non league game at Lockport at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
