Akron spikers post key win over Albion

Frontrunning Akron posted a straight set 25-23, 25-15, 25-11 victory at defending champion Albion this evening in a key Niagara-Orleans League volleyball.

The victory, combined with Wilson’s five set 25-20, 16-25, 25-14, 12-25, 28-26 win over Roy-Hart, gives undefeated (5-0) Akron a two match lead in the N-O title race.

Albion and Roy-Hart both slip to 3-2.

Sharrah Jonathan had a big run of 9 straight service points to highlight Akron’s opening set win. She followed that up with a 5 point run of points in the second set.

Akron then closed out the match by rolling to a 14 point win in the third set as Tedee Jonathan served up points 8-13 and Sharrah Jonathan aces for points 22-23-24.

Chanyce Powell had 11 spiking kills to lead Albion.

Wilson 25-16-25-12-28, Roy-Hart 20-25-14-25-26

Raechel Blasius had 8 kills and 4 aces, Jennifer Meyers 8 aces and Sarah Nugent 7 kills and 4 blocks to lead Wilson to the marathon five set victory over Roy-Hart.

Byron-Bergen 25-25-25, Holley 13-15-14
Lauren Burke had 12 assists, 5 kills and 8 aces and Madison Farnsworth 8 kills and 5 aces to lead Byron-Bergen (6-1) to a straight set Geensee Region League win over Holley.

Ava Kohut had 3 aces and 2 kills and Kassie Norman 4 kills for Holley.

In another G-R match, Oakfield-Alabama/Elba downed Kendall 25-15, 25-4, 25-22.
