Akron posts key field hockey win over Barker
Defending champion Akron posted a key 5-0 win over visiting Barker this afternoon to take over first place atop the Niagara-Orleans League field hockey standings.
Akron improves to 4-0 with the victory while Barker slips into the runner-up spot at 5-1.
Abigail Schlabach scored 2 goals and Brooke Milhollen, Brooklyn Gerstung and Mackenzie Tomporowski each had 1 for Akron;
Akron held narrow leads of 1-0 at the half and 2-0 at the three-quarter mark before locking up the win with a big three goal final period.
The Roy-Hart vs. Medina game was rescheduled for October 10.
