Akron posts key field hockey win over Barker

Taking over sole possession of first place, Akron blanked visiting Barker 4-0 this afternoon in a key early season Niagara-Orleans League field hockey clash of defending co-champions.

A second period goal by Olivia McClaine proved to be the game winner for Akron which also got a third period tally from Lacey Berghorn and a pair of clinching fourth quarter goals from Jenelle Kieffer.

Akron is now 2-0 and Barker 3-1.

Medina 9, Newfane 0

Gaining win No 1 on the young season, Medina blamed host Newfane 9-0 as Lydia Fox scored 3 goals, Iyla Lilleby 2 and Baileigh McAdoo, Penelope Schalck, Alexandria Strong and Adeline Castricone 1 each.

Medina is now 1-2 an Newfane 0-2 in the league.

Roy-Hart 5, Sacred Heart 1

Cheyenne Stilwell scored 4 goals and Brooke Zglincki 1 for Roy-Hart in the 5-1 non league win over Sacred Heart.
