Taking over sole possession of first place, defending champion Akron posted a 4-0 victory over visiting Barker this afternoon in a key late season Niagara-Orleans League field hockey clash of unbeatens.

Akron improves to 10-0 while Barker slips into the runner-up spot at 9-1. The teams will meet again in the regular season finale at Barker next Monday. In between, Akron will visit Medina at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Barker will host Roy-Hart at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Akron built up a 2-0 half-time advantage after a quick two-goal scoring burst late in the second quarter. Julia Klodzinski scored the first goal with 8 minutes to go in the period and Lacey Berghorn quickly followed up with another tally just three minutes later.

The Lady Tigers capped off the big win with a pair of goals in the final five minutes of the fourth quarter by Nevada Bergman and Olivia McClaine.
